Using RWCards with Uddeim PM Sys? 6 Months ago
I've been wondering if it would be difficult to modify RWCards so ecards could be sent on the Private Message system. Uddeim in particular.

Social sites don't show email addresses most of the time, so it's hard to send eCards to other members.

An ecard system on a private message system would be a First, I think. Revolutionary new concept for social sites.

Of course there are ways to work around it, such as send a card to yourself and then copy the link and send it on the PM system to your buddy. But most of my users would never figure that out. It would be so much cool-er if we had an option to select PM system when sending RWcards.

It's an idea...

Yes, I understand that.

And if I only knew how to write PHP code...

Actually, I am trying to make time to do some PHP lessons.

I think there are a couple of possible ways to do it.

SCENARIO #1:

When the (registered member) sender fills out the ecard form, provide an additional field for username. The sender could enter a username, or an email. (Or both?)

If they enter a username, then the system will automatically find the email address in the database and send the card by email.

This way we could send ecards to site members without having to know their email address.

OR SCENARIO #2:

When the (registered member) sender fills out the ecard form, provide an additional field for username.

If a username is entered, the system goes to UDDEIM next and puts that Username in the TO field, and it puts the link to the card in the Note field. So the sender just has to click SEND or SUBMIT to send it on the pm system.

UDDEIM accepts BB code. The developer told me this.

You are welcome to develop this!
You can get SVN Access to joomlacode if you want to.
